Corrientes Province Unveils Online Gambling Rules

The Argentine province of Corrientes has unveiled its rules for online gaming.

The new online gambling regulations were published in the Corrientes Provincial Gazette last week, permitting virtual casinos and bingo, along with various types of wagering.

Apart from sports betting, residents of the province can also place bets on non-athletic events (excluding political events), such as virtual sports and horse racing.

All forms of online gaming will be overseen by the Corrientes Institute of Lottery and Casinos (ILCC), which will also be responsible for issuing licenses to operators and enforcing the rules.

Advertising must not target young people or be “offensive, misleading, or unfair,” nor can it create “confusion about the nature of the game.”

Gamblers must be able to set deposit limits and exclude themselves from gambling, and they should receive notifications if they remain logged in for more than three hours, with additional alerts every hour after that.

Minor infractions, such as failing to display licensing information, will lead to a warning.

Serious violations, such as allowing self-excluded players to gamble, will result in financial penalties.

Grave infractions of the regulations, encompassing the provision of unauthorized games or licensees taking part in games, might lead to the license being rescinded.

The ILCC will establish the licensing charges at a subsequent time.

The region is situated in the northern part of Argentina and has a population of roughly 1 million, encompassing the city of Corrientes.

Argentine provinces are currently overseeing online gambling autonomously.

The province of Buenos Aires has granted online operating permits to seven gambling companies.

In the meantime, the nation’s capital, Buenos Aires City (legally distinct from the province), earlier this week sanctioned the commencement of Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) and local gambling and entertainment operator Grupo Slots.
