Caesars will continue to oversee its remaining assets in Indiana. The company will keep running Horseshoe Hammond, as well as Indiana Grand, Harrah’s Hoosier Park, and the state’s three off-track betting locations.

In July 2020, Indiana’s gaming regulators directed Caesars and Eldorado Resorts to divest three of their casinos in the state following the approval of their significant merger.

The commission reportedly expressed concerns about the deal due to the number of properties the two companies owned and operated in the state.

The commission stated, “This extraordinary transaction has a greater impact on Indiana than any other state,” emphasizing that the combined entity would control a substantial portion of the state’s gaming revenue.

Nevertheless, the Indiana Gaming Commission has now modified its original directive, permitting Caesars to maintain control of its other existing holdings in the state. This follows Caesars’ agreement to sell its Caesars Southern Indiana casino operations to the Cherokee Nation Businesses, and the Tropicana Evansville to Bally’s Corporation.

“We strongly believe that continuing to operate the Horseshoe Hammond is in the best interests of our staff, patrons, the Hammond community and Indiana,” stated Tom Reeg, Chief Executive Officer of Caesars Entertainment.

“We are certain that preserving our robust customer and employee relationships at Horseshoe Hammond will position the property for the most promising and exhilarating future imaginable.”

Caesars recently finalized the sale of the Tropicana Evansville and is anticipated to complete the sale of Caesars Southern Indiana in the third quarter of 2021.
