The British Columbia Gaming Commission (BCGC) is commemorating a significant milestone – their responsible gaming initiative, called “Player Well-being,” has once more received the highest level of accreditation from the Global Lottery Organization (GLO). This is the fifth time in a row that BCGC has earned this esteemed distinction. An autonomous committee commended BCGC’s program for surpassing standards and showcasing true creativity in its methodology. They were particularly struck by BCGC’s devotion to varied projects and assessment techniques, acknowledging their ambitious goals for the years ahead. Marie-Noëlle Savoie, a prominent figure at BCGC, conveyed immense satisfaction in receiving this accolade, highlighting how it underscores their commitment to prioritizing players. BCGC’s Player Well-being initiative stood out for its all-encompassing approach, encompassing research, employee education, player protections, and stakeholder collaboration, all of which met or exceeded industry standards. This accomplishment positions BCGC among a select group of only 13 lottery organizations in North America that hold this level of certification.

Throughout its certification procedure, BCLC emphasized a number of responsible gaming programs, such as its online GameSense Advisor service, the proactive contact stipulations within its Game Break voluntary exclusion program, and enhanced verification methods at British Columbia gaming facilities. BCLC also stressed its GameSense responsible gaming trademark, which is licensable by other commercial gaming entities.

The WLA certification for BCLC is effective for a period of three years. This accomplishment comes on the heels of the publication of BCLC’s yearly report, entitled “Playing to Win: BCLC Annual Report,” which underscored the organization’s advancements on environmental, societal, and governance (ESG) objectives during 2022/23.

The document emphasized BCLC’s dedication to responsible gaming, Indigenous reconciliation, diversity, equity, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.

In a distinct development, BCLC collaborated with Instant Win Gaming (IWG) to introduce the “Set for Life” game on PlayNow.com.
